Alpha Troop is for young people aged between 10½ and 14 years.

We try to encourage and create programmes that allow our Scouts to take part in a wide range of activites. There are a number of Challenge Awards and Activity Badges that a scout can work towards while at the same time having lots of fun. All Scouts must take the promise and try to live by the Scout Law.

The Scout Promise

On my honour I promise that I will do my best. To do my duty to God and to the Queen, to help other people and to keep the Scout Law.

The Scout Law

A Scout is to be trusted. A Scout is Loyal. A Scout is friendly and considerate. A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of Scouts. A Scout has courage in all difficulties. A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property. A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.

Being outdoors has always been an important part of the Programme. Scouts will take part in both well known Scouting skills, such as camping, as well as the wide range of adventurous activities which include anything from climbing to snowboarding.

Throughout the programmes Scouts have the opportunity to develop a sense of self-dicipline and self-esteem with integrity, honesty and reliability. Scouting also allows them to;

• develop the social skills to get on with others as an individual and as a team member.
• gain an appreciation and understanding of the world in which they live and a sense of responsibility toward it.
